Do more than this.
According to the American Cancer Society, colon cancer is the second leading cancer killer in the United States for men and women.
The Gastroenterology division at Minor & James Medical includes physicians and nurses who are specialists in Adult Gastroenterology and Hepatology (liver conditions).
Our board-certified physicians diagnose and treat conditions such as heartburn (gastroesophageal reflux disease), stomach ulcers, swallowing problems, gallbladder stones, pancreatitis, hepatitis and other liver problems, and intestinal problems such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and diarrhea and constipation.
Our staff physicians are also experts in screening for and treating colon polyps and colon cancer.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), patients should begin screening for colorectal cancer soon after turning 50, then continue getting screened at regular intervals. However, some patients may need to be tested earlier or more often than other people if:
- You or a close relative have had colorectal polyps or colorectal cancer; or
- You have inflammatory bowel disease.
Minor & James Medical also has a Medicare-certified Ambulatory Surgery Center where diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are conveniently performed on an outpatient basis. Procedures we perform include flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, and liver biopsy. Our modern endoscopy equipment utilizes the latest video technology which allows us to view the internal areas of the body to prevent, diagnose, and treat gastrointestinal conditions.
