Pulmonology

Lung disease is one of the most common health problems in the U.S. today. Infectious disease, smoking, allergies, indoor and outdoor pollution, and on-the-job exposure to pulmonary irritants all play a significant role in the development of various forms of chronic lung disease.

Our pulmonary specialists are well-versed in the diagnosis and treatment of acute illness due to asthma, bronchitis and pneumonia. With the help of sophisticated X-ray, CT scans, MRI, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy, and nuclear scans, we can diagnose diseases such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis, tuberculosis, and lung cancer early on, which greatly improves our ability to provide effective treatment.

Our pulmonologists are also board-certified in intensive care medicine. Working in conjunction with cardiologists, infectious disease specialists, and vascular, general and thoracic surgeons, our intensivists coordinate the specialized care that has greatly improved survival rates in our community.

Minor & James Medical was recently designated as one of just 19 LAM (Lymphangioleiomyomatosis) Clinics in the nation, by The LAM Foundation. This designation is based on Minor and James Medical's ability to accurately diagnose and treat this disease, as well as support the infrastructure required to manage its many complications. This infrastructure includes pulmonologists, radiologists, pathologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, as well as a team of respiratory therapists, nutritionists, and physical therapists.
